When babies grow up, they will need more food intake. Generally, at the age of 6 months, the baby will begin to fuss though they are breastfed. When they are getting a lot of moves, drinking milk alone is not enough to make a full stomach. This is the time when mothers can start to introduce extra food. Babies who already deserve to be given extra food usually show certain signs. What are the signs?
Signs that babies need additional food:
Mothers can introduce additional food to the baby gradually. To begin with, mothers can give one type of fruit, such as bananas, papaya or avocado. Consider the reaction of the baby, whether they like it or not. Mothers could replace the fruit with sweet foods, such as baby biscuits.
Mothers should also adjust the food texture with the baby’s age. Liquid and soft food like milk porridge, blended fruit or vegetable porridge should be given to babies aged 6-9 months. When the baby reaches the age of 10-12 months, mothers can start to introduce viscous and solid food, such as teamed rice.
When babies start teething or around the age of 12-24 months, they can start to be given solid food. But do not give the food which has strong spices, sour or spicy taste as it can interfere with digestion.
Mothers can also give food they can grasp, such as biscuits or pieces of fruit and vegetables. The point is, to train the baby how to holds food and stimulates tooth growth.
